Foyston, Gordon & Payne Foundation empowers Indigenous youth with USAY

In honour of this year’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Foyston, Gordon & Payne Foundation is pleased to announce a donation to the Urban Society of Aboriginal Youth (USAY) in Calgary.

USAY collaborates with Indigenous youth to create programs that meet their needs while incorporating their own definitions of success. By combining innovation with traditional Indigenous culture, the youth are able to celebrate their identity and create a positive sense of self to create change in the community.

Some of the programs USAY offers include:

  • Indigenous Inclusion Program: an after-school program that supports youth in their healing journey
  • Blackfoot Graphic Novels: a graphic novel that engages Indigenous children and youth with Blackfoot language and traditional stories to preserve the language and culture
  • IndigiMAP: a language learning app that provides an introduction to Indigenous languages across Canada
  • Della’s Story: a virtual escape room that explores the story of a Sixties Scoop Survivor

More information on USAY is available on its website.

The Foyston, Gordon & Payne Foundation was established in 2015 by the employees of FGP to support charities in communities across Canada that benefit children. Since 2021, the Foundation has pledged to donate to at least one charity serving the Indigenous Peoples of Canada.
